From local-looking supplier to national B2B brand, with a Shopify portal to match.

Bay Rag has supplied wiping rags, absorbents, and PPE to Home Depot and Fortune 500 manufacturers since 1976. Their digital storefront still looked like a regional San Jose shop with an Oakland Bay Bridge logo. They came to us for a design refresh. The brand was the bottleneck, so we rebuilt the whole identity and shipped a custom B2B portal on Shopify alongside it.

From local-looking supplier to national B2B brand, with a Shopify portal to match.

Challenge

Bay Rag came to us for a design refresh. The brand was the bottleneck. Their Oakland Bay Bridge logo and regional aesthetic signaled local shop to a market they were already operating in nationally. The fix needed to be bigger: a full rebrand and a custom B2B portal on Shopify, the platform they already used.

Approach

The brand was rebuilt to match the scale of the business.

Bay Rag had been a national supplier for 48 years. The brand still looked regional. We ran positioning workshops to lock the new identity, rooted in their product line (boxes and pallets). Then we built a new logo, color palette, typography, and brand book so every later asset stayed consistent.

Shopify can do B2B when the front-end is built for it.

Out of the box, Shopify handles consumer checkouts well and B2B workflows poorly. The back-end uses the Wholesale Hub app. We built the front-end integration on top: wholesale pricing tiers, PO ordering, and corporate account flows that feel native to how industrial buyers purchase.

Animations earned their place by reinforcing the brand.

We designed Bay Rag’s site to feel like a national brand: fluid shapes, soft shadows, a custom “About Us” animation where boxes fall onto a pallet to form the logo, an auto-scrolling Industries section with a progress bar, and a custom catalog download form. Every animation reinforces “national supplier, modern operator” without slowing the buyer’s path to checkout.

Shipped before deadline, with late-stage scope absorbed.

As launch approached, the client added requests: extra forms, a phone number, smaller tweaks. We absorbed each one without slipping the date. The project was ready for launch before the original deadline, waiting on the client for the green light.

Before / After

Before

  • Local-feeling brand with an Oakland Bay Bridge logo
  • Website unfit for B2B sales
  • Rigid template-based design
  • Risk of missing deadline due to late scope changes

After

  • National-scope identity rooted in their actual product line
  • Custom B2B portal with wholesale tiers and PO ordering on Shopify
  • Unique design with fluid shapes and custom animations
  • Ready for launch ahead of the established deadline

Shopify can run B2B sales. The front-end has to be built for it.

If you’re a B2B supplier on Shopify and your sales team is sending PDF quotes because the site can’t handle wholesale pricing, the fix is on the front-end. We’ve built B2B portals on Shopify with tiered pricing, corporate accounts, and PO ordering. Tell us what’s missing.
