Client Overview
Meet Dune Security. They’re a cybersecurity startup on a mission to help companies train their employees to not click on shady links. Think of them as a boot camp against phishing, turning your team from a liability into a human firewall.
Their story with us began unconventionally. They initially chose a different path, but just a couple of months after launching on their own, they came back. They had a shiny new website, but they needed a reliable crew to navigate, maintain, and upgrade it at the speed of a fast-growing startup. They came to us for a Webflow retainer.
Challenges
A retainer isn’t a one-and-done project; it’s a relationship. And like any good relationship, it comes with its own set of challenges that you solve together.
The High-Velocity Startup.
Dune is a young, dynamic, and rapidly evolving startup. They live in the moment, react to market trends, and need their website to keep pace. The challenge was to build it fast, reliably, and without breaking what already works. We had to become an extension of their team, matching their tempo beat for beat.
The High Bar for Quality.
Their CEO is charismatic, driven, and has an incredibly high standard for quality and speed. He’s the kind of leader who expects excellence and isn’t afraid to ask for it directly. The challenge was to sync up with his vision, learn to anticipate his expectations, and build a communication rhythm that turned demanding feedback into a collaborative process of refinement. It took a few months to get the puzzle pieces to fit perfectly.
Getting It Just Right.
With Dune, “done” is rarely “done.” A new feature might go through several rounds of “back-and-forth” as the team seeks to make it better, brighter, and more impactful. Our challenge was to embrace this iterative process not as “rework,” but as a core part of the creative journey, delivering quality at speed, again and again.
The Evolving Team & The Handover.
When we started, our main point of contact was the CEO himself. Gradually, he handed over the reins to his growing marketing team. While their team is young, modern, and has a fantastic design sense (no “Hello, 2007” graphics here!), this transition required us to build new relationships and adapt our processes to work seamlessly with a new set of stakeholders.
The Solution:
A retainer is the ultimate flexible solution for a dynamic client. It’s about having a dedicated, expert team on call, ready to tackle whatever comes next.
Our strategy was to become Dune’s embedded Webflow & Design department.
Building the Content Engine, Piece by Piece.
We built an entire content ecosystem from scratch, one CMS collection at a time, and have been evolving it ever since. This included launching four major collections:
- Case Studies
- A multi-faceted Blog (including industry news, founder’s letters, and more)
- Events & Webinars
- A Content Library of educational and product-related videos. Each of these isn’t static; we revisit and enhance their structure every few months to handle growing complexity and improve the user experience.
Forging the Commercial Spearhead.
We systematically built out their core commercial pages, launching 8 “By Use Case” pages and 7 “By Industry” pages. We are constantly iterating on high-value pages like the homepage, adding motion design to the hero section and other key areas to make their product’s value pop.
The Marketing Asset Factory.
Our role extended beyond the website. We became their go-to resource for crucial marketing graphics, designing polished covers for LinkedIn posts, blog articles, and new feature announcements. This culminated in creating an animated video for a major feature launch on LinkedIn, combining motion design with their audio to create a high-impact announcement.
A Partnership That Grows.
Over 8+ months, we’ve gone from a trial month to a core strategic partner. We’ve supported them through their internal team growth, adapted to their iterative workflow, and consistently delivered high-quality design and development that matches their ambition.
Results You Can Measure
A 8+ month retainer is less about a single “big bang” and more about a constant barrage of deliverables. Here’s the scorecard of what we’ve built and shipped together so far.
- 15+ New Solutions Pages Launched. We systematically built out their entire commercial foundation, launching 8 “By Use Case” pages and 7 “By Industry” pages from scratch, turning ideas into lead-generating assets.
- 4 Brand New CMS Collections. We constructed their entire content universe, creating a powerful, interconnected system for their blog, case studies, events, and a full-blown educational content library.
- 100% Marketing Team Empowerment. We transitioned from reporting to the CEO to working seamlessly with their new, autonomous marketing team. They are now fully in the driver’s seat of their Webflow instance, a process that took less than 2 months.
- 3+ Major Homepage Iterations. The homepage is a living battlefield. We’ve gone in for major surgical updates more than three times, adding sophisticated motion design and overhauling key sections to keep up with their evolving message.
- 20+ Custom Marketing Graphics Delivered. From LinkedIn post covers to animated video announcements for major feature launches, we became their on-demand design squad, ensuring their brand looked sharp across all channels.
- 8+ Months of Partnership. And Counting. The most important metric of all. We went from a one-month trial to a core strategic partner, proving our value month after month in a high-velocity, high-demand environment. Zero downtime, zero dropped balls.
