The Webflow Site Their In-House Team Didn’t Have Time to Build.

Datastory had a team with the skills to build their new website. They didn’t have the bandwidth. The sales funnel was missing its professional point of entry, and waiting for internal capacity wasn’t an option. We stepped in as the team they didn’t have time to be. Five weeks later the new site was live, scoring 95 on PageSpeed and pulling in 20% more organic traffic.

The Webflow Site Their In-House Team Didn’t Have Time to Build.

Challenge

Datastory’s sales funnel needed a professional point of entry, and the website that was supposed to be it kept getting pushed. The skill to build it existed in-house. The time did not. Every quarter the project slipped. The sales team kept selling around a site that didn’t reflect the business. The brief was simple: be the team we don’t have time to be, ship it, and hand it back to us in working order.

Approach

They had the skills in-house. They didn’t have the hours.

Datastory wasn’t a client who needed convincing on what good looked like. Their COO knew exactly what the new site should do for the sales funnel. The problem was capacity. The internal team was already at full load on product work, and every sprint the website got bumped to “next month.”

We came in to absorb the work. Our job was to deliver a site that matched what they would have built themselves if they had three months of free hours. Then hand it over without strings.

Webflow because their team had to own it the day after launch.

The platform decision was made up front. Whatever we built, their team had to be able to update it without calling us back every Tuesday. Webflow was the obvious fit: visual editor for their marketing team, CMS for ongoing content, and no developer in the critical path for normal updates.

We built the entire site on a Webflow component system. Every section a reusable block. Every block documented. The handover was a working component library their marketing team could ship new pages from on day one.

Performance was scoped before the first component was built.

A professional point of entry for a sales funnel doesn’t get to load in four seconds. We built the site lean from the start: optimized assets, no plugin bloat, component architecture tuned for speed. The new site scored 95 on PageSpeed post-launch and started pulling 20% more organic traffic after the migration.

Lina ran the project in Slack from kickoff to launch.

Datastory wanted a vendor that moved in their working channel, not one that ran on calendar invites and weekly decks. Our PM Lina lived in Slack: questions answered same day, design reviews handled inline, blockers surfaced before they became blockers. The whole thing shipped in five weeks because nothing waited.

Built to ship. Documented to be owned.

The last week of the project was the handover. Component library walkthrough, CMS structure docs, how-to-edit guides for the marketing team. The day after launch, Datastory’s team was making edits without us in the room. That was the brief from day one. That was the deliverable.

"It was a really great experience."

“The team were really great and super professional. That's the thing that sold us at first, and compared to the other companies who bid for the proejct they really took the time to understand us and work through the proposal to make sure it fit our needs. They understand their market and are great at what they do. It was a really great experience. Thanks Nick, Lina, and Foursets!”

Organic traffic growth after the migration to Webflow

Before / After

Before

  • In-house team at capacity, website project stalled quarter after quarter
  • Sales funnel with no professional point of entry
  • Old platform dragging on performance and SEO
  • Website updates dependent on developer time

After

  • New site shipped in 5 weeks without pulling internal team off product
  • Polished Webflow site doing the job the old one couldn’t
  • 95 PageSpeed and +20% organic traffic after the Webflow migration
  • Marketing team shipping new pages from a documented component library

Your team can build it. They just can’t build it now.

If your internal team has the skill but not the bandwidth, the website project will keep slipping. You don’t need another planning round. You need a team that ships, documents what they built, and hands the keys back. That’s what we did for Datastory in five weeks.
