Which is better for animation, SVG or Lottie?

It depends on the motion. An animated SVG suits a simple icon or line motion. A Lottie suits designed motion with several shapes and stages, because the whole sequence ships as one file that Interactions can start and stop on chosen frames.

Does Webflow support Lottie animations?

Yes, natively, with no plugin. Webflow's help article on Lottie confirms that Webflow Lottie animation support covers Lottie JSON files and dotLottie files and includes a native Lottie animation element. Interactions can start an animation on page load, scroll, click, hover, or mouse move.

How do you add Lottie to Webflow?

Two routes need no code. Webflow's own Lottie animation element plays an uploaded file, and the LottieFiles app inserts animations from the LottieFiles library. Will a Lottie in Webflow slow down my page?

Usually less than a GIF or a video would. LottieFiles' overview of the format says Lottie animations are "much smaller while retaining the same quality" than GIF or MP4 video files. Size still depends on the motion. A simple Lottie is lightweight, and a detailed one can weigh a few hundred kilobytes. Rendering matters too. A LottieFiles post on its jLottie player adds that "the way a Lottie player processes and renders the animation also is an important factor." How can I create a Lottie animation?

Are Lottie animations free?
